Freedom.
Seems a lot of what we always felt like were permanent things in life have recently been taken from us. π°
Our freedom to shop, to send our kids to school, to go out to eat or travel… GONE.
Who would’ve ever guessed we’d be where we are today and deal with what we’re dealing with on a global level? π§
Not me.π€·ββοΈ
I don’t like having my freedom taken from me. It’s uncomfortable and challenging.
I don’t think I’m alone π
Yesterday we learned our kids would not be going back to school this year. That makes for a total of 24 weeks at home- probably the longest in the history of our modern day school system. π°π±π¬
There was a large part of me that wanted to cry and mourn our losses. I let myself feel the pain and allowed my kids to express it as wellπ₯΄π©π.
It’s healthy and good to allow each of our emotions to go through us and not label them as good or bad. They just are what they are and each are necessary to experience our humanness. (anyone seen Inside Out?).
After feeling the frustration and sadness, we decided to celebrate…π
Why?
In one of my favorite books, βMans Search for Meaningβ Viktor Frankl, a Jew that experienced the concentration camps and had EVERYTHING taken from him said…
πMan can have everything taken from him but his ability to choose how he will react.π
(I’m paraphrasing).
If someone that had his family, his livelihood, home and all possessions taken from him and still choose to see the good in life…
SO CAN I! ππ»ππ»
Today and every day I choose to celebrate:
π I have music to listen too & shows to watch.
βΉοΈββοΈ I can play with my kids & husband ( a lot).
π₯ I have food to eat and people to shop for me!
πͺ I am healthy and getting stronger both physically and mentally
π½ I have indoor plumbing and a roof over my head
π I am learning about myself and growing new skills
π I can train my brain to throw negativity in the trash and use that trash for the benefit of others.
We always have a choice. πββοΈ We always have freedom. πΊπ»When things seem down and hard and depressing, it’s okay to feel that pain and allow it to pass through us!!
When it does, we are free to feel how we want to feel in any given situation. π§πΎββοΈπ
